On the open plains of southern Africa,
some species of predators hunt only
during the hours of daylight. These
predators have developed the weapon
of speed to run down and catch their
equally fast prey. Cheetah and wild
dog are the specialists in this field,
but they must share the day with other
opportunistic hunters such as lions,
hyenas, and jackals. The Selinda Wildlife
Reserve in northern Botswana is one
of the world's most remote and beautiful
wildlife refuges. Here the Panthera
Productions team has recorded the bahavior
of the daylight hunters of Africa and
the countless interactions that take
place under the harsh African sun: the
slashing speed of a cheetah kill, the
brute force of lions hunting in broad
daylight, the relentless pursuit of
the wild dog. Every day is a test of
skill and strength bringing danger to
the speed hunters who must give way
to the stronger predators of the area.
