Will Taylor was born in the Rhodesian bush and has grown
up with an intense love of animals, nature and conservation,
earning advanced degrees in both zoology and botany from
the University of Natal in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
Will was appointed as only one of two prestigious Beit
Fellows for southern Africa, while finishing his masters
- the first time ever the honor was awarded for the Life
Sciences. Will's personal experiences are the sort that
would even make Hemingway jealous: surviving a civil war,
fighting poachers, working as a field ecologist, running
game reserves, relocating rhinos, leading luminaries such
as Margaret Thatcher and F. W. de Klerk on safari, writing
several books, and producing award-winning films.
An early collaboration with Gerald Hinde produced their
first book on African wildlife and sparked the idea of
producing films to educate and entertain international
audiences.
Having founded Panthera Productions
in 1993, Mr. Taylor has seen his vision grow to include
two companies, Panthera Productions and a high-end travel
business, The African Experience, Inc.
Panthera currently represents six professional photographers
and maintains an extensive library of African wildlife
images and stock film footage. His most recent book, Africa's
Big Five, has received great critical acclaim and is a
bestseller in South Africa.
Will Taylor remains heavily involved in conservation efforts
in Africa, both on the ground and in an advisory and strategic
capacity. He is involved in raising funds for critical
projects on endangered animals such as the black rhinoceros,
and is also on numerous boards in the USA, including the
Dallas Museum of Natural History and the International
Exotic Feline Foundation. Africa and its wildlife remain
his passion, and he splits his time between Dallas , Texas
and his home on a game reserve in the African bush.
